100th Day Challenge

100 days, 100 marshmallows, 100 toothpicks...

Today was the 100th day of school, and we had to make a tower out of 100 marshmallows and 100 toothpicks.  Some of our groups did well, and other groups found it more difficult.

Some things we learned during this marshmallow challenge were-
-how to figure and plan things out
-how to make a strong base
-how to agree with your teammates
-it helps to have a picture in your head before starting
-you need a bigger base and a narrower top
-put all of your teammates ideas together

Second Grade Bread Sale

Today we went to the annual second grade bread sale.  Each year the second graders bake tasty bread and sell it by the slice to the lower school students.  Each slice costs twenty-five cents.  The money from the bread sale is donated to Atlantic General Hospital which is just a couple miles from our school.

The second graders had jobs that switched throughout the morning.  Some of their jobs were bus people, cashier, bakers, drinks and host/hostess.

Everyone enjoyed the bread very much.  We had choices of white, cinnamon, or cinnamon raisin.  We also had icing, honey, butter, sprinkles, jelly, and cinnamon as options for our toppings.  A big thank you to the second grade teachers, Mrs. Frostrom and Mrs. Bunting for putting their time and effort into another successful bread sale.
